Bovine Free

Bovine freeC.J. Foods, Inc. made the decision several years ago to operate our manufacturing facilities as "bovine free" in order to comply with what was, at the time an ever increasing resistance to any products from the USA made with ingredients of beef origin. As such, we have eliminated all opportunities to produce and or package any products that contain or include beef  or bison ingredients.

It is important to note that although C.J Foods' facilities are in fact Certified as "Bovine free" as well as having certified many of its vendors to be the same, it should not be construed to mean that C.J. Foods, or it's vendors are in fact "ruminant free" as that is not the case.

C.J. Foods and its vendors produce a great deal of products each month containing ruminant ingredients in the form of lamb and venison. Although we process lamb and venison based products, those materials are sourced only from New Zealand as that country is certified to be scrapie free and therefore acceptable for use in nearly all countries around the world.

It is important to reiterate our company's position on this issue at a time when foreign governments entities have shown a practice of changing their regulations frequently which may in fact prohibit the importation of foods that contain ruminant ingredients even if found only at trace levels.

This is important from the standpoint that C.J. Foods does not now, nor has it in th past, the guaranteed any products to be ruminant free and as such, recommend that any of our clients who choose to export products from the USA do so only after assuring that their products are in full compliance with all regulations that may apply to prevent any problems related to potential issues with ruminant ingredients.
